Ever since I could hold a pencil, I’ve been drawing — even to the point of getting myself, at age 7, along with some college kids in trouble. Crowding around me in the pew of a small Indiana church, they would whisper different things in my ear to draw during the service. It was becoming disruptive. 30 years later, I found out some of them had kept my drawings all those years.

Art has always been and always will be a part of my life. I’ve realized there is a maturity that comes with this need to create and design. Of course, through the years in the marketing field as a graphic designer and time-to-time an illustrator, I’ve developed skills that parallel my continued growth as an artist. (And let’s be honest, it’s the designer job that pays the bills!)

However, it has become more apparent that I create art not for myself to sustain a reasonable living (or have an excuse to go to Hobby Lobby) but to fulfill a passion I cannot ignore. I am blessed to be surrounded by many who support and encourage this passion of mine to create. Moreover, they spur me on not just to become a better artist, but a better a husband, a better father, and a better follower of Jesus Christ. And I know full well without Christ, none of this is possible.
